ANDREA CANNING
NEWS CORRESPONDENT
Andrea Canning is a correspondent for Dateline NBC. She began reporting for Dateline, The Today Show and Nightly News in October 2012, covering big crime stories, breaking news and investigative reports. Andrea regularly contributes to content on Peacock and hosts Dateline in Syndication. She has three News & Documentary Emmy nominations.
Prior to that, Andrea worked for ABC covering the White House, Congress, the Supreme Court and the Iraq War. Andrea traveled the country tackling a wide array of stories from Hurricane Katrina to her 2011 headline-making interview with Charlie Sheen.
Andrea has hosted multiple Sister Wives, Little People Big World reunions and guest co-hosted The View. She has appeared on shows like E.T., Extra, Wendy Williams and appears annually in NBC’s New Year’s Eve special. Andrea was a local news anchor in Barrie, Ontario, West Palm Beach, Greenville, Mississippi and Cincinnati, Ohio. She also worked for the television shows, Baywatch and Extra before her on-air career. Andrea has written over 20 screenplays for Hallmark & Lifetime ranging from Christmas to mysteries. She also has executive producer, producer and actor credits. Andrea has Canadian, British and American citizenship. She lives outside of New York City and was raised in Blue Mountain, Ontario. Andrea has a psychology degree from the University of Western Ontario and studied radio and television arts at Ryerson University in Toronto. Andrea is married to U.S. Marine Corps reservist/F-18 fighter pilot, Lt. Colonel Tony Bancroft. They have five daughters and a son.
